PADI INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT COURSE

What makes a teacher a successful professional is not what he knows and is able to do but what his students know and can does after they have completed the course with him/her. You may remember from your school days your favourite teacher from whom you learned most was the best organised and respected.

In diving there is an opportunity to become such a favourite teacher with your diving students. All PADI Training Programs are based on education standards and provide support materials that makes both teaching and learning easy and attractive.

Every year PADI certifies more divers than all the other diver-training agencies together! At the same time statistics prove that diving becomes safer every year.

It is reasonable to say that the PADI diver training system significantly contributes to an increase in diving safety. And PADI Instructors teaching the PADI way achieve this!

The educational validity of the PADI Training Program is acknowledged worldwide e.g. in the UK where PADI instructors can earn National Vocation Qualifications, which recognises them as professional educators, even in fields outside diving. In Australia, PADI Instructors can qualify as a Nationally Accredited Coach, which is recognised by the Australian government.

The expression says: "Success is hard to argue with "

The PADI IDC program trains you to be successful as a teacher.

As a Divemaster you have perfected you diving skills and knowledge, but as an Instructor you will transfer these skills and this knowledge to others….

Our PADI IDC programs take place because we believe that you should be trained in an environment where you would like to work later. Dive resorts and Diving Liveaboard Boats are there to meet a diver’s expectation of a well-deserved holiday.

When you decide on a career change that brings you closer to nature and leaves stress behind, you’ll share with other divers the challenge and enjoyment that enticed you to diving in the first place.

In co-operation with our Dive Centre (years of experience in teaching and guiding divers) you’ll become familiar with the entire PADI educational diver-training programs.

Our Course Directors and Staff Instructors will share with you the enthusiasm for diving and teaching. During your Instructor Development Course you’ll get hands-on practice in teaching entry level and advanced diving courses.

Your success as a diving Instructor and Divemaster largely depends on the materials, equipment and training facilities your dive centre supports you with.

We have a resort swimming pool on location and direct access to the beach for Warm Ocean diving. Air-conditioned classrooms have TV and video players, slide projectors and all the teaching materials you need. These facilities make it easier for your students to learn, which increases your effectiveness and popularity as a diving Instructor.

Another factor that makes your IDC enjoyable is comfortable accommodation. For maximum comfort you may decide to stay at in one of the nearby hotels or guest houses. We’ll help you to make a reservation so you have room waiting for you when you arrive for your IDC. Plan to come a few days before the course starts, so you become familiar with the dive centre and to store your equipment. With time to spare, you can go diving with us, courtesy of Andaman Scuba. During course days we will have breakfast and lunch together at the restaurant nearby the pool in the resort.

Before the IDC registration, we’ll have two days of preparation (the Prep. Course) concentrating on Divemaster diving theory because maybe, you may not remember all of it. We are here to compliment what you do right and to help you where there is room for improvement.

During the IDC you’ll gain confidence while working with existing course outlines and to conduct teaching presentations in the classroom, pool and open water environments. You’ll develop a clear understanding of the PADI Continuing Education philosophy and the programs that are available to you. PADI offers all Instructors a full range of teaching materials for all courses, from entry to leadership levels and Medic First Aid; the manuals, videos, quizzes and exams are fully integrated and approved by educational experts. You will see how enjoyable it is to teach PADI courses with the help of these support materials. PADI Standards are a great help when teaching diving and you’ll learn how to use them as a diving professional.

Counselling during the IDC will inform you on your progress generally and, in particular, the standard of your presentations; both in the classroom and in the water.

During the course we’ll review the written exams that are a part of your Instructor Examination to fully prepare you, and boost your instructor confidence. Once you are an Instructor, we will still take care of you through our job placement service. In 1998 and 1999, all our candidates have found jobs within 2 months of successful completion of the IE exam.

If you wish to apply for the IDC course, send us e-mail. We will send you a questionnaire and give you the final answer within 10 days.

Don’t miss your chance, Andaman Scuba will show you the right way to start your new carrier…
